Getting There

The Great Canadian Town Band Festival, a 3-day outdoor event showcasing many of the best bands in North America, happens on Father's Day weekend (June 13 - 15, 2003). Set in the picturesque rural village of Orono, the festival is only an hour's drive east from Toronto.

The festival offers music lovers a wide variety of musical styles from different historical eras, bands playing antique instruments, military bands, brass bands, bands on bicycles, and many more.

The military Tattoo is held on Friday night, with marching bands in full regalia, and equestrian performances. Then on Saturday and Sunday, enjoy the bands performing all day at Sylvanus Gardens, while relaxing on the lawn or in the shade of the beer tent. On Sunday an ecumenical church service takes place at the Victorian Bandshell, which was specially constructed for the festival in 2000.

If you love band music, you don't want to miss this event! Join the celebration in Orono this year.
